Albuquerque Public Schools
A 2006 kindergarten addition to Atrisco Elementary School provided a new stand-alone kindergarten building with three classrooms, staff areas, and secure outdoor playgrounds. Each classroom includes a corner reading nook with large windows, a full kitchen, and a private bathroom with child-scaled fixtures.
A two-story 4,679 square-foot addition to Bandelier Elementary School, completed in 2008, provides a new full-prep kitchen, computer technology lab and teacher workroom. Renovation work included HVAC upgrades, ADA and fire code upgrades and renovation of the existing cafeteria.
Collet Park Kindergarten /Pre-Kindergaten
The new Collet Park Kindergarten /Pre-kindergarten building is approximately 11,000 square feet. This stand alone building is designed for LEED Silver certification. It includes four kindergarten classrooms, 2 pre-k classrooms, a teacher workroom and various support spaces and a new “Tot-Lot” play area. The facility was designed with a great deal of input from teachers and parents, and designed to serve the children and teachers by providing the best environment for their development and success.
Hubert Humphrey Elementary
As detailed in the Hubert Humphrey ES Master Plan, the existing condition of the original 1977 building warrants a replacement facility. The existing kindergarten building, on the other hand, is in satisfactory condition and the recommendation is to preserve the structure. A phasing strategy for the facility replacement breaks the process down into three phases. Following the phase one kindergarten classroom addition, the strategy is based on the division of the new facility into two parts: a two-story facility that contains core functions and eight classrooms; and a one-story classroom wing.<< << previous
